Michael’s practice emphasizes all aspects of general business, real estate, construction, and estate planning law. His business law practice includes serving as general business and corporate counsel, with extensive experience forming and advising business entities, and negotiating, drafting and reviewing all manner of commercial transactions. He also has extensive commercial litigation experience, representing businesses and individuals in major commercial and contract disputes at all levels of the state and federal courts in Washington. His real estate experience includes contract negotiation and drafting regarding the development, management, purchase and sale, and leasing of commercial and residential properties. Finally, Michael advises individuals and families on general estate planning matters, including drafting estate plan and business succession instruments, and handling the probating of estates.

Michael was a partner at the commercial litigation firm Danielson Harrigan Leyh & Tollefson LLP (now Harrigan, Leyh, Farmer & Thomsen LLP) in Seattle, Washington, prior to co-founding Roberts, Johns & Hemphill, PLLC. In 2005, he was recognized as a “Rising Star” by Washington Law & Politics magazine. From 2006 through 2008, he served as chief operating officer and general counsel for a prominent real estate development consortium in Seattle, Washington.

Michael received his BA degree from the University of Washington in 1994 and his JD, cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law in 1997. He is an active member of the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor. A Tacoma native, Michael now resides in Gig Harbor with his wife and three children. He rides his Triumph Bonneville any chance he gets, golfs more than he should (and less than he wants), loves (and once lived) baseball, and bleeds Purple and Gold.
